CLAIRE & ZARA
If you love wildflowers, woodlands, meadows and stunning views, then Folly Farm Centre near Bristol is an idyllic place to tie the knot. The farm is just a few miles from my home, so very convenient. As a countryside lover it’s the perfect place to spend a day doing what I love doing best, taking photos of happy people in beautiful environments.
Claire & Zara got in touch last summer. We initially met at my place to chat about their plans for the forthcoming wedding. I always feel quite flattered when I’m booked by folk who know a thing or two about visual communication, so when I found out both Claire & Zara were designers, I was very flattered indeed. What I didn’t know was that most of the guests were designers, photographers or videographers; Claire’s Dad included! Pressure aside, I got stuck in capturing the story of their wedding day.
When I arrived, the ladies were getting ready in separate rooms and were full swing into their hair & make up. Both Claire & Zara were assisted by an entourage of bridesmaids. The maids were beautifully dressed in lilac or green, and each sporting floral meadow crowns.
Claire had opted for a simple, elegant off the shoulder wedding dress whilst Zara had chosen a gorgeous lace number. Neither of the ladies were regular dress wearers so it was a grand moment for both sets of their parents to see them looking so stunning and elegant. The bridesmaids & parents shed tears; I may have had a welling up myself! They did look mighty fine.
Once the ladies had completed their vows and the emotional readings had been read, they proudly proceeded down the aisle and were welcomed into married life by a colossal confetti throw. The atmosphere was jubilant and the bag piper played whilst the excited ladies lead their guests to the champers and canapés which awaited them in the cottage garden.
Once the excitement had died down, we proceeded with the group photos and romantic portraits. The merry guests were escorted to the beautifully decorated dining hall. As Claire & Zara have a thing for dinosaurs, they had bought every guest their own mini dino as a place setting… it was a definitely unique! A very grand entrance was made by the ladies who came dancing through the dining room.
After the meal had been consumed and the speeches had finished, we were blessed with the most beautiful sunset. Off we trotted to the field for a few more shots of the happy couple, before cutting the cake and hitting the dance floor.
“The photos are amazing! We are both very happy. Zara definitely pulled some cracking faces, which made us laugh. Took us hours to go through them”.

“If you’re getting married at Folly Farm or anywhere in Bristol, just get in touch for a chat”
On the wedding morning, Tanya was joined by her mum and bridesmaids at the local hair salon. They chatted and sipped champagne while the stylists worked their magic. Next stop was Mark & Tanya’s flat where I was treated to a particularly good bacon buttie whilst...
Instead of the standard pre-shoot why not opt for a documentary approach, Mark & Tanya braved me documenting a typical evening with friends at home. These photos will tell a great story in the years to come and be a permanent reminder of their first home together.
Our day started at the wonderfully boutique Brooks Guesthouse, set in the heart of bustling urban Bristol. This cosmopolitan backdrop perfectly suited our soon to be wedded couple and their party; a fun gang of fit, slick and handsome guests. Dani, our bride was very...
