5 Reasons To Plan a Kefalonia Wedding (And Have Me Photograph It!)
Abigail and Ryan had a change of plans with their wedding last year. Instead of the UK wedding they originally opted for, they decided to go all out and head to Kefalonia in Greece for their big day instead! When they asked me if I’d still be their wedding photographer, I of course said yes. How could I possibly turn down the chance of photographing a wedding in a beautiful place like that?! I planned to stay for a few days so that I could explore the area a little bit, as well as spend some time with the couple and their guests (which is always great to build a connection, especially when you’re going to be spending a long day with them soon!). And I was totally taken with this location. Which got me thinking… I’d love to photograph more weddings in Kefalonia in the not-too-distant future. So, why don’t I share my top 5 reasons for you to plan a Kefalonia wedding (and why you should have me there to photograph it!)? Read on for all the information!
#1: Is There Anything More Romantic Than A Greek Wedding?
If you haven’t seen Mamma Mia by now, then I insist you grab a copy of the DVD and watch it immediately. It’s true not every Greek wedding will be filled with the songs of Abba at every turn (nor will there be a trio of sexy dads to choose from!). But the Greek landscape is the perfect backdrop for any wedding and you won’t fail to be wowed by it—in person or in your photos. Whether you choose to get married in a beautiful vineyard or on a secluded beach somewhere, Kefalonia is the most beautiful place. You definitely won’t regret it!
#2: Talking About Those Greek Landscapes…
Like, really, have you ever seen anything quite like them? Kefalonia is well known for its natural beauty. It’s full of picturesque beaches, crystal clear blue water and dramatic coastlines. And with a stunning background like that, who needs wedding decorations? The views will be something you’ll remember forever, and just think of the gorgeous photos we’ll capture there.

#3: Sunny Weather
I wouldn’t be an English woman if I didn’t mention the weather, would I? And if there’s one thing that’s always a plus point for a wedding on a Greek island in the summer months, it’s that gorgeous Mediterranean sunshine. Honestly, there’s nothing like it. The light is phenomenal (complete photo-nerd talk!) and there’s literally nothing like it back here in the UK, even on the sunniest of summer days. Gorgeous warm lit afternoons and evenings will give your Kefalonia wedding a magical and ethereal quality. You won’t want the day to ever end.

#4: The Best of Greek Culture
Of course, no Kefalonia wedding would be complete without talking about all the things we know of that make up Greek culture. The main thing that springs to mind is the food, of course! As well as the cuisine, there’s also the warm and welcoming Greek hospitality that you’ll find everywhere, making your experience and wedding in Kefalonia so much more memorable. And depending on what you’ve got planned for your big day, you could even incorporate some of the more well known Greek wedding traditions if you wanted. A little bit of plate smashing, anyone?

#5: It’s a Short Hop Away!
As one of the more western islands of the Greek archipelago, getting to Kefalonia is only a short three and a half hour flight from London! That makes it super accessible and affordable—even better when you think about bringing along a destination wedding photographer from the UK to capture your day for you.
