manor by the lake

Adding wow to your wedding photographs with a stunning Cotswolds wedding venue

Manor by the Lake promises luxury, exclusivity and tons of character behind that Victorian exterior. What it delivers is so much more. For wedding photographs you’ll be wowed by, you can’t go wrong with a venue like Manor by the Lake in the Cotswolds.

Venue history

Manor by the Lake, as its name suggests, is a stunning Victorian manor house by a lake! Set amongst 7 acres in the heart of the Cotswolds, it also has multiple gardens and mature woodland. The venue was recently restored to its former glory by a talented and passionate team. It boasts classic décor with modern styling and endless options and possibilities for you and your wedding guests.

The venue is located just an hour outside of Bath. I love that I get to stop by my favourite Farm Shop service station on the way to this venue! That’s as good a reason to book more weddings at this stunning location, don’t you think?

Wedding Prep

The Greta Bridal Suite and dressing room is a photographer’s dream. It’s so light, bright and chic. You cannot fail to take amazing photographs in this space! The grand 4-poster bed, which is silver (!), is the perfect spot to hang your dress from for those classic photos. And the amazing light makes it the perfect space for getting those all-important prep images while your hair and makeup is being done.

Being on-site means you can take your time with your prep as well as it’s not like you then have to drive through traffic to get to your ceremony on time! It also allows me to get plenty of venue shots and photographs of your guests arriving too.

Grooms typically use the Rock Bar before the wedding as a space to chill out and relax before they say their I dos. It’s not the sort of space you expect to find in a Victorian manor house. But the owners have made it work and with its jukebox, games room and guitars hanging on the walls, it’s a popular space with the boys. Not to mention it has a bar!

Your wedding Ceremony at Manor by the lake

Depending on the size of your wedding and the number of guests, there are a few options for your ceremony. Manor by the Lake is licensed for both indoor and outdoor weddings and there are lots of outdoor options you can choose from. Inside, there are two main rooms. The larger of the two is the Maximilian room. This room is a glorious room for a wedding ceremony. With its dark wood panelling and magnificent parquet floor, you’d think the space would be too dark. But, balanced with the huge windows, which overlook the spectacular Italian Gardens, this room is the perfect combination of strong décor with a light, bright feel.

Manor by the Lake is a venue that just keeps on giving. It has so many different rooms which allow for lots of varying backdrops and looks for photographs. And they also give your guests plenty of space to roam and explore after the ceremony is over. I love how the eating area is separate so there’s none of that moving guests along to be able to prep the dining space and so on.

The venue even has a quirky secret passageway from one of the ceremony rooms to the bar. You’ll have to see if you can find it if you choose this venue for your wedding day!

If the weather is kind, then the gardens and pavilions, with their abundance of fairy lights, are perfect for group and couple photographs. I particularly loved wandering through the grounds with my couple and getting photographs with the house in the background. It’s a stunning feature in and of itself to capture.

Even if the weather isn’t being agreeable, there are some lovely little corners and spaces inside the house. These can be utilised for your couple photographs too, so you won’t miss out even if the rain is pouring outside!

A Cotswolds Wedding Venue with endless possibilities

This flexible venue was a joy to work at. Not only for its beauty and multitude of spaces to take photographs but also because the staff were so friendly and helpful throughout. I also loved the added detail of the car park being tucked out of the way, so no pesky cars were ruining any of the photographs. It’s little touches like that that make Manor by the Lake a wonderful venue to capture your wedding photographs.

Because you won’t regret it! So, if you’re planning a wedding at Manor by the Lake and you’re on the hunt for a photographer as flexible as this venue, you should drop me a message. Let’s talk about your wedding photography!
