A Brand New Somerset Wedding Venue
I’m feeling like a top journo right now. Picture it, me sitting at my clackety old typewriter, glasses perched on the end of my nose and a pencil tucked behind my ear as I get the scoop on this brand new Somerset wedding venue, just outside of Bath. It’s called Parish’s House, and I’m so excited to say I’m going to be photographing the very first wedding there next July!
A little history
Parish’s House dates back to the early 1800s, relatively young compared to some of the wedding venues around here! But it has a no less exciting history with links to maritime, the military and even royalty. The house itself was built in that classic Regency style, which is quite common around this part of the world.
The Grounds
The house itself is a private family home, owned by the Bakers for the last decade or so. And when you see the house sitting in its surroundings, it looks like a family home should – welcoming, friendly and warm. There’s no pretension or misplaced grandeur about this place. It just looks… lovely!
I was so excited to visit the venue recently to take some photographs for this blog post. And I was utterly wowed by the walled garden, where the owners can grow the flowers for your wedding day if you want them to! The gardens were all spectacular to view, while the views across the countryside were breathtaking. And I haven’t even talked about the woodland yet!

Your Wedding at Parish’s House
The owners at Parish’s House have thought of it all with this exclusive venue. Whether you want a traditional church wedding (the nearest church being Timsbury’s own St Mary’s Church) followed by marquee reception, a civil ceremony in the Orangery or a full-on boho humanist wedding in the woodland, Parish’s House has scope for it all.
The venue is yours to use from Thursday right through to Sunday. That means you’ve got plenty of time to get everything set up before the big day itself. There’ll be none of that last-minute dashing to make it to your wedding on time!

– Accommodation –
There’s a beautiful cottage on site where you can get ready. This then doubles as your wedding night accommodations, so you won’t have far to stumble to after the party is over! The cottage has been gloriously renovated, and it is so luxurious with the giant wrought iron bed in the bridal suite and a roll-top bath. There’s even a separate twin room on the ground floor – a place for your girls to stay the night before so you won’t be by yourself.
There are also some great hotels and houses nearby too, where friends and family can stay. The guys at Parish’s House are more than happy to give you some recommendations. The owners are the loveliest people. You couldn’t ask for a friendlier service when it comes to your wedding day.

– A Hidden Gem –
As I walked around the grounds of Parish’s House, I couldn’t help but notice the sounds of birds singing. And when you couple that with the peacocks on-site, walking around like they own the place, there’s a real sense of the tropics about this venue.
Just picture it—a beautiful, warm summer’s day. The birds are tweeting. The beautiful flowers in those gardens. And both of you, celebrating your special day with all your friends and family. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect Somerset venue, then you can’t go wrong with choosing Parish’s House.
