Pennard House Wedding Photography

A Georgian Somerset wedding venue that really does have it all!

For a venue that thinks of everything and covers all the bases, you can’t go wrong with Pennard House. Tucked away in the gentle rolling Somerset landscape, just a few miles from Glastonbury, this Georgian manor house is a packed to the timber-framed rafters with features that perfectly compliment your wedding, whatever you’ve got planned.

About Pennard House

Pennard House is a Grade II listed building which was built in the 17th century. That it has always been a family home only adds to the atmosphere and ambiance of this building. You can tell that it has been the well-loved home of many generations over the years. It is still a home now, to Harry and Georgina, and it’s clear to see how passionate they are about making this space the perfect place for your event or wedding.

The Grounds

But it’s not all about the house, though. Pennard House is most certainly eye-catching, with its Georgian frontage and that glorious ivy climbing the front walls, which makes for some wonderful photos. But this is a venue which also includes a whole host of other treats for you to enjoy. Pennard House has 130 acres of meadows, woodlands and orchards, as well as a croquet lawn, tipis set up in the garden and a lake. You could spend a whole day just exploring the grounds, let alone getting married!

Getting Ready

Pennard House has a dedicated space for bridal prep on the morning of your wedding. The Orchard Room bridal suite is the perfect space for getting ready. It’s light and bright with tons of space for you all to get your hair and makeup done. The high ceilings and chandeliers add a classic touch. It’s the most beautiful backdrop for capturing images of you as you’re getting your dress laced up by your bridesmaids. I may have fallen a little bit in love with the rolltop bath in there as well! There’s also space for the boys to get ready too. There’s even enough space to sit down and do some last-minute adjustments to your wedding speech if you need to!

-The Ceremony-

Again, Pennard House has thought about every possibility here. If you’re looking to have a church ceremony, there is a beautiful church on-site and a short walk away. So, if the weather is good, you can walk down with your bridal party, which makes for some great photographs.

The church itself has a lovely balcony, which is great for capturing photographs without disturbing your guests. There’s also plenty of space outside to get those obligatory confetti shots as you two walk out of the church, too.

Pennard House also has both an indoor and outdoor space for civil ceremonies if a religious ceremony is not for you. I can’t wait to get the opportunity to photograph weddings in those locations too, especially in slightly warmer weather!

After the Ceremony

Again, the scope of possibilities at Pennard House is endless. Walking back up to the house from the church is lovely, especially as you now get to do it together as a newly married couple with all your guests!

Group photographs can take place back up at the house. The grounds are perfect for those all-important family photographs. There are plenty of options, inside and outside, to get them done, which is great if you’re getting married in the winter or the weather isn’t doing as it’s told.

The converted barn is the perfect spot for drinks and canapes while the group photos are being taken. I also love how, when it’s time to go in for dinner, the tables are set up upstairs in the barn, leaving space downstairs for cake cutting and dancing. There are spaces for every part of your day, so it always feels like there are different areas to move to without feeling like you have to go too far.

As for your couple photos, there are so many options to go off and get some lovely shots in total privacy away from your guests. Which is brilliant for you to get a little bit of time together, just the two of you, as well!
