JENNY & JOE

Happy face Jenny & tall handsome Joe

A few years ago, I photographed the beautiful wedding of an old Uni friend at The Walled Garden at Cowdray in the South Downs, and I have been wanting to get back to that part of the world ever since to shoot more weddings. Luckily for me, the lovely Jenny spotted that particular wedding blog post and, as a result, booked me for her stunning wedding to Joe at Bignor Park. Here’s how their amazing day went…

With Bignor Park being a few hours away from home, and because I like to meet my couples before their wedding day, I booked accommodation and travelled down the day before. I like to do this with weddings that aren’t local as it ensures I’m in the area and won’t get stuck in traffic on the day of the wedding, but it also acts like a little holiday for me too! A night away from home so that I can explore a new area and have a bit of me time is always a plus point to shooting weddings outside of my immediate area, especially in the midst of a busy wedding season.

The South Downs is a particularly beautiful part of the world and I never tire from visiting. There are so many spectacular wedding venues, such as Cowdray House, Upwaltham Barns, Grittenham Barn, Fitzleroi Barn and Amberley Castle, to give you some inspiration if you’re planning your own South Downs wedding.

The morning of Jenny and Joe’s wedding, I met with Jenny at The Town House B&B in Arundel, where she was getting ready with her girls. Jenny’s happiness and loveliness shone through and it was a pleasure being with her as she was made up by the talented Tamara and dressed in a beautiful gown from Willowby.

It was an incredibly hot day with bright blue skies, absolutely perfect for an outdoor ceremony, although certainly a challenge for us photographers! Luckily, with such a relaxed and lovely couple and the assistance of the incredibly helpful Louise at Bignor, the wedding went off without a hitch and it was my absolute pleasure to capture every part of it.

Joe and the boys all looked incredibly dapper in their blue suits. The flowers from Angel Like Flowers were so vibrant and a joy to capture and I loved the little details like the paper cranes as table place names and the glass guestbook box too. The beautiful cake was also made by Jessica, a cousin, and I’m told it was her very first wedding cake. She certainly did an amazing job as it looked so good.

The stunning grounds at Bignor Park also made for some truly fantastic backgrounds. I particularly loved getting Jenny and Joe on their own for a little wander around the gardens, of which there are many! The gardens are definitely a highlight of Bignor Park, with there being 11 acres to wander around and each having their own unique views over the South Downs. The gardens are beautifully kept and tended, and they are obviously a well-loved feature of Bignor Park.

After a good wander around the grounds and plenty of candid and formal photographs, everyone sat down to dinner. The food was amazing, even for this GF Veggie. Dinner was followed with some really awesome and emotive speeches. There were lots of happy tears and fantastic reactions from the crowd to capture.

Once dinner was done and the sun was a little lower in the sky, I got Jenny and Joe back out for some of those lovely golden light photographs (not that I needed an excuse to get this gorgeous pair back into those gardens!) and I left them and their family and friends dancing into the night.

This really was the loveliest wedding in an incredibly beautiful location, and I can’t wait to head back to the South Downs again for more!

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Jamieson!

Thank you Kerry for being such an important part of our day! Not only are our wedding photos absolutely gorgeous (no surprise there, the woman is so talented!), it was so much fun spending time with you on the day and you really put us both at ease. Highly highly recommend Kerry if you’re after a brilliantly talented photographer who also happens to be the loveliest person. Best wedding decision!
